Benedict Cumberbatch’s Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness gets an official runtime.
The highly anticipated new movie from Marvel Studios Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness appears to be the most dangerous adventure an Avenger has ever embarked on in a standalone movie. Benedict Cumberbatch returns as Stephen Strange, who, after the events of Spider-Man: No Way Home is about the terrifying reality of the Multiverse, which has been unleashed.
Given the epic nature of the film’s story, based especially on the incredible footage we’ve seen from the numerous trailers, some would have expected Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness one of Marvel Studios’ longest films to date. However, it turns out that the Benedict Cumberbatch movie may be a little shorter than some expected. According to Fandango, the film clocks in at 126 minutes:
Although this runtime is longer than the original movie† which was 115 minutes, some expected this movie to be on the long side, maybe at least close to 150 minutes. Hopefully this means Sam Raimi has a meager movie that doesn’t need to be explained with too much explanation just to extend the run time further.
Here’s the recap of the movie:
The MCU unlocks the Multiverse and pushes its boundaries further than ever before. Journey into the unknown with Doctor Strange, who, with the help of mystical allies both old and new, traverses the mind-blowing and dangerous alternate realities of the Multiverse to confront a mysterious new adversary.
Directed by Sam Raimi from a script written by Michael Waldron, the upcoming movie stars Benedict Cumberbatch, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Elizabeth Olsen, Benedict Wong, Xochitl Gomez, with Michael Stuhlbarg and Rachel McAdams.
