Concept art featuring Deathstroke from Ben Affleck’s suspended version of the batter had been revealed.
Before Matt Reeves and Robert Pattinson signed up to bring a new vision of Gotham City to life in the batter, Ben Affleck was originally going to direct a standalone film for his version of the Caped Crusader making its debut in the DC Extended Universe (DCEU) in Zack Snyder’s Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. The movie was set to have Joe Manganiello as Deathstroke, which was set at the end of Zack Snyder’s Justice League.
Finally Ben Affleck said goodbye to the batter, both step down from the director’s chair and have Matt Reeves rewrite an entire page depicting a younger Bruce Wayne, separate from the ongoing DCEU canon. However, this hasn’t stopped fans from wanting to see how Deathstroke would have been portrayed, with some harboring hopes of Joe Manganiello returning as the character in the future.
Artist Keith Christensen revealed on his official Instagram some concept art of Deathstroke’s helmet, which was planned for Ben Affleck’s The batter. As you can see, both Ben Affleck and Matt Reeves had completely different visions for what was the first standalone Batman movie since The Dark Knight Rises would be, and this Deathstroke concept art gives us yet another fascinating case of “What if?”
