Sony’s latest Marvel movie morbius starring Jared Leto has been awarded the official CinemaScore rating for audience.
After numerous delays since 2020, morbius is finally in the cinema. The Jared Leto Movie Expands Sony’s Spider-Man Universe After the Two venom movies, giving audiences an idea of Sony’s plans for the universe. Unfortunately, the film has received mostly negative reviews from critics, and while audiences have responded more favorably to it by comparison, the response is still quite mediocre, based on the official CinemaScore rating.
CinemaScore has revealed that the audience rating for morbius is a C+. For comparison: both venom and Venom: Let There Be Carnage received a B+ rating, while Sony’s previous films have received mixed positive ratings. Sam Raimi’s Original Trilogy of Spider Man films got two A- for the first two films and a B+ for the third. Marc Webb’s The Amazing Spider-Man earned an A- while the sequel earned a B+. Jon Watts’ first two MCU movies got an A, while Spider-Man: No Way Home and the Academy Award-winning animated film Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse both achieved an A+.
According to the official website, CinemaScore has surveyed moviegoers at major opening night releases since 1978 to gather demographic information and calculate a distinctive letter number. Based on mixed audience reactions, which currently give the film a 69% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes, the ongoing box office performance for Jared Leto’s morbius will be interesting to follow, given Sony’s plans for the future of this Spider-Man Universe.
