‘Loki’ Directors Tease New And Unexpected Direction For Season 2

Moon Knight directors Aaron Moorhead and Justin Benson have teased new and unexpected directions for season two of Loki

Last year, Loki was released on Disney Plus and blew audiences and critics alike. The series had the biggest opening of any Marvel Disney Plus series and, unlike other shows, it actually seemed to advance the larger story of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. A second season was quickly put in development.

Since the release of the first season, Loki has filled in its cast members and developers. Moon Knight directors Aaron Moorhead and Justin Benson were brought to the helm of the series, replacing original director Kate Herron. At first glance, however, the directors have some new things in mind for the series.

Speaking to Comicbook.com, the directors opened up about the direction they wanted the series to take. In particular, Aaron Moorhead spoke about how Marvel expected the unexpected for a series like this and they plan to put their skills to use for Loki

“I think the main thing about Loki is that it’s actually a lot like Moon Knight, where there’s just no reason to do it if it doesn’t become something new and fresh. The funny thing is, it feels like Marvel would be willing to walk away unless it’s really something they felt the unexpected. Like from Moon Knight and especially because Moon Knight is a character that hardly anyone knows anything about him yet. Soon to change, right? And so our gloves are off and we can do whatever we want. And everyone at Marvel and ourselves get really excited when we’re presented with the unexpected. Of course, we also hope that people watching will feel the same and we’re going to bring all that to Loki.”

Here’s the synopsis for the first season of Loki

Marvel Studios’ ‘Loki’ sees mercurial villain Loki (Tom Hiddleston) reprise his role as the God of Mischief in a new series set after the events of ‘Avengers: Endgame’.

Directed by Kate Herron, starring Michael Waldron as lead writer, starring Tom Hiddleston, Sophia Di Martino, Owen Wilson, Gugu Mbatha-Raw.

The first season of Loki is available on Disney Plus with Moon Knight debuts on March 30. Stay tuned for all the latest on the upcoming season and subscribe to Heroic Hollywood’s YouTube channel for more original video content.
