Marvel Seemingly Confirms ‘Daredevil’ & ‘Defenders’ as Canon for MCU

Marvel has seemingly confirmed that the daredevil and defenders series are canon for the MCU.

Since all of Marvel’s Netflix series have been cancelled, some are speculating about the future of daredevil and his comrade defenders on screen. Turning to Matt Murdock (Charlie Cox) and Wilson Fisk (Vincent D’Onofrio), they’ve since made their appearance in the MCU, in Spider-Man: No Way Home and hawk eye respectively. Since then, their original series and others have moved from Netflix to Disney Plus, sparking speculation as to whether they will be officially accepted as canon for the ongoing franchise.

Well, the official Marvel website may have confirmed that the daredevil series, and maybe the rest of the Netflix characters’ respective series are canon for the MCU. In a full on-screen history account of Matt Murdock when he debuted on the series, it acknowledges the events of both his standalone show and the defenders miniseries. It also ends with the following clip, explaining what the blind lawyer/masked vigilante has been up to since we last saw him in season 3:

Some time later, Matt was hired as a lawyer to defend Peter Parker, as Peter had been publicly exposed as Spider-Man and charged with murdering Mysterio. Although Peter was legally cleared of any wrongdoing, Matt warned him that he would still have to appear in public opinion court and advised Harold “Happy” Hogan to hire a good lawyer. As if it were a sign, a protester threw a brick through the window of the Parkers’ apartment in support of Mysterio. Fortunately, thanks to his heightened senses, Matt was able to catch the rock before hurting anyone inside. When Peter asked him how he could have done that, Matt claimed it was because he was a really good lawyer and left it at that.

While fans can expect Charlie Cox and Vincent D’Onofrio in the future, we’ve been in the dark about the possibilities of other daredevil cast members return to reprise their roles. Also, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, Iron Fist, and the punisher remains a mystery, but since Marvel’s official website appears to have canonized the events of these series in this profile, it appears that these Netflix series are officially canon for the MCU. Hopefully we’ll see more of the Defenders in the future!

Here’s the synopsis for Marvel’s daredevil Season 3:

Missing for months, Matt Murdock (Charlie Cox) resurfaces a broken man, leaving his future as vigilante Daredevil and attorney Matthew Murdock in question.
