SPOILER WARNING: The article contains spoilers for Matt Reeves’ The batter.

In an interview with TechRadar, Matt Reeves discussed a particular deleted scene featuring an Unseen Arkham Prisoner played by Barry Keoghan, who many believe is him putting on The Joker. The director has indicated that his finished film is his official Director’s Cut of the project, but he has acknowledged that this deleted scene is one he’s enjoyed very much and is expected to be released sometime later this year:

“There were scenes that we cut that I liked. There’s even a scene with the invisible prisoner, who appears in Arkham at the end of the movie [Asylum] with the knight. There was an earlier scene where Batman went to Arkham to try and profile the Riddler, and Barry is in that scene. It’s a really cool scene, and I’m sure we’ll release the scene after the movie comes out, because it’s a really cool deleted scene.”

It was originally announced that Barry Keoghan would play Gotham City Police Department Officer Stanley Merkel in the batter, but for the past few months there have been rumors all over the internet that he would be Matt Reeves’ Joker in the highly anticipated movie. Anyway, fans will have a chance to see where things are set up later this week, and whether or not The Joker will be involved in the future remains to be seen.

If the rumors are to be believed, Barry Keoghan would be the latest actor to step into the clown’s shoes as The Joker on the big screen. Other actors who have portrayed The Joker include Cesar Romero, Jack Nicholson, Heath Ledger, Jared Leto and Joaquin Phoenix. Both Heath Ledger and Joaquin Phoenix have won Academy Awards for their respective performances as The Joker.
