Nicolas Cage Doesn’t Rule Out a Return as Ghost Rider for Marvel

Nicolas Cage is not ruling out a return as Ghost Rider for a future Marvel Cinematic Universe Project.

Nicolas Cage has had a strange, almost tragic relationship with comic book based movies. He was originally set to play Superman in the movie, superman is alive but the plug was pulled from the film after the box office disappointment of Batman and Robin† The actor would eventually play Ghost Rider in the movies Ghost Rider and Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengence† Neither film was a critical or box-office success, and a version of the character wouldn’t be released until season four of Agents of SHIELD with another actor. However, the door for any actor to return in a Marvel movie is open.

In the Disney Plus show, Loki it was revealed that a multiverse existed, but was kept in one timeline. This was eventually undone during the events of the show and eventually led to characters from other universes appearing in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The most famous of these, of course, was the return of Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield for… Spider-Man: Now Go Home† Patrick Stewart also apparently plans to return as Professor X in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness† With this door open, it begs the question of who else might return in this film. However, Nicolas Cage does not confirm whether he will somehow come back as Ghost Rider.

In a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Nicolas Cage was asked whether or not he was interested in returning as Ghost Rider in a Marvel project. In response, the actor basically ignored the question of praising the entire medium of comic books without confirming or denying any possible involvement in an MCU project:

“These are hot topics, and I get it, because things like this are like wildfire on the internet. I’ve always admired the realm of the comic book and I’ve always thought that stories were very colorful and entertaining and, frankly, kind of wholesome in a really positive way. I don’t know what the objection is with people wanting to knock them. I definitely think it’s of great value that they bring people happiness.”
