Telstra Health launches app for residential elderly care

Digital health company Telstra Health has unveiled its latest mobile app for residential aged care.

According to a press release, the CareKeeper app enables staff to view, record and document a resident’s care in real time via a mobile device.

It is integrated with Telstra Health’s Clinical Manager software so providers can have a single source of truth, reduce data duplication and preserve their unique chart types.

The app is hosted on the Microsoft Azure cloud and offers security capabilities such as role-based access, unique credentials, and automatic logout.

WHY IT MATTER

Based on the government’s most recent census of the aged care workforce, half of personal carers in Australia are aged 40 and under. Their generation, says Michael Donnelly, head of Aged and Disability at Telstra Health, expects innovative solutions, which is why the company has partnered with them to ensure a positive user experience with its new mobile offering.

One of the key benefits of CareKeeper, according to Telstra Health, is its icon-based design that allows staff to easily identify tasks that need to be completed within required time frames while they are with residents.

Because the documentation at the point of care is done in real time, employees can spend less time at their stations and more time with residents. CareKeeper’s intuitive design also makes documentation simple and fast, the company claims.

THE BIGGER TREND

Early this year, Telstra Health upgraded its HealthNow mobile app to allow users to download and share their COVID-19 digital certificates. The app is one of two apps in Australia that provides access to the government’s My Health Record platform.

August last year, Telstra Health partnered with Hayylo, a provider of customer communication platforms, to communicate with care recipients and the community. They’ve combined Hayylo’s communication platform and mobile apps with Telstra Health’s system, providing an integrated solution that enables easy and transparent ways for self-service information about schedules, visit details, requests, care notes, statements and budget usage.
