In many cases, these free giveaways were far from obscure or minor titles, including big games like Prey, Control, and Total War: Warhammer, as well as popular indie titles like Celeste, Hyper Light Drifter, Limbo, and Super Meat. Boy.
All of this is to say it’s worth creating an account and keeping track of these free offers because even if you don’t have a computer right now that can play some of these games, if you get one, you’ll have one. a stock games library ready to use.
Is Borderlands 3 worth $0?
Obviously, yes. More importantly, is it worth your time? Anyway. We gave the game four stars in our review, praising the immense arsenal of weapons and deep RPG systems, but noted that the attempts at comedy weren’t particularly funny.
Personally, I first played Borderlands 3 a few months ago (before Elden Ring dominated all my free time), and it fulfilled one part very well for me: mindless action. For those looking for chaotic, fast-paced first-person shooting to jump in quickly, grab this game.
There’s also some depth, if you want it. As with every Borderlands title to date, you choose a class to start with, and from there you invest points in various skill trees and equip shields and items that harmonize with your skills. This can change the way the game is played quite dramatically, shifting from being more of a big hitter at a distance to a head-to-head fighter.
After playing through every entry in the series, the quality of life improvements that have accumulated over the decade since the first Borderlands title are to be applauded – movement is fluid, the action is relentless, and each weapon feels satisfying to wield (even the cheap beginner package).
That said, the fun of the game depends a lot on your ability to block out its story, as well as much of the dialogue. Borderlands 3 continues the vulgar (and childish) humor of the series, but has far fewer redeeming moments than its predecessors in both story and jokes.
Borderlands 3 for both PC and Mac is currently free on the Epic Games Store until May 26.
