Classic PlayStation Plus games can get trophy support

The all-new PlayStation Plus service offers PS Premium subscribers a collection of classic PS1, PSP and PS2 games to play, and all of them can get trophy support thanks to an announcement from the developers of Siphon Filter.

In a Twitter post, Bend Studios announced that popular original PlayStation siphon filter will get trophies once it’s released on the new PlayStation Plus – which launches in June. The message shows the “An Explosive Start” trophy that will be unlocked from the game, and developers also confirm that there is a platinum to be earned.

As previously reported, a PS5 patent suggested that players can earn trophies for the older titles. Whether it’s the patent being used, PlayStation trophy hunters will be happy to see more trophies to be earned on popular classics.

So far, Siphon Filter is the only “Classic Games Catalog” title that has trophies to unlock. This may indicate that not all classic games available on the PlayStation Plus Premium tier will receive trophy support, but time will tell once the revamped subscription service launches. Currently, the PS Plus collection includes Ape Escape, Hot Shots Golf, Super Stardust Portable, Tekken 2, Worms Armageddon, and more.

The Premium tier doesn’t just offer standard PlayStation Studios and third-party games to play. Sony states that some titles will show improved frame rates and higher resolution compared to their original launch versions. In addition, a new user interface with menus allows gamers to save or even rewind games at any time.

We can’t wait to add more games to the collection and support the trophy system in all upcoming titles. In the meantime, check out all the games currently announced for the new PlayStation Plus.
