Hackers can hijack your WhatsApp account with this devious call forwarding trick

Experts have discovered a method that allows threat actors to hijack almost any WhatsApp (opens in new tab) account, access all messages and contact lists in the app.

Rahul Sasi, founder and CEO of CloudSEK, a digital risk protection company, found that by taking advantage of automated call forwarding that some mobile services provide, along with the ability to send a one-time password (OTP) verification code over a voice call, an attacker over almost every WhatsApp account.
