This is a flashy hands-on review to give you a quick look at what the Shark Stratos Cordless is all about. Stay tuned as we’ll be expanding and upgrading this hands-on review very soon with more information.
We are day two in our time at IFA 2022 (opens in new tab)and we eagerly look forward to launching even more entries for the best robot vacuum cleaners (opens in new tab)best cordless vacuum cleaners (opens in new tab) and upright vacuum cleaner categories. We keep our eyes peeled for any novelty and one that has particularly caught my eye is the Shark Stratos.
We went for breakfast at SharkNinja this morning (Thursday 1st September) and not only did we get our hair styled with the new Shark FlexStyle, we also had the opportunity to try out the new vacuum cleaner that was in between the brand’s already popular vacuum cleaner line. cleaners.
Stratos is the name of Shark’s new series. There are corded upright sticks and cordless sticks with some of the best features we know and love, such as Anti Hair Wrap, Duo Clean and Flexology, along with some new things to boot that promise to pick up more grime. and control bad odors.
It is currently available to pre-order directly from Shark UK (opens in new tab) and will be available for sale on the Shark website and at resellers sometime in the coming weeks.
We were very impressed with the new Clean Sense IQ technology, which according to Shark picks up 50% more dirt from the floor by feeling the dust you can’t see and automatically adjusts the suction power.
This is beautifully illustrated by an intelligent indicator in the floor head. We had some dried grain on the floor to show how effective this feature was, and we could hear the gears change as it took a little more effort to clear the grain from the floor surfaces than surface dust.
We were told that this new feature also helps extend battery life as you’re using a suction best suited to the floor type, which probably won’t be on Max.
Another new addition to the Shark vacuum cleaner is the innovative Anti Odor technology that protects against bad odors. If you’ve ever noticed an odor from your vacuum cleaner after you haven’t emptied it for a while, or if you have pets, you’ll really notice the difference when using a Stratos range vacuum cleaner. While we weren’t able to quickly test this feature, we did see it and it’s a small plug-type filter that resides in the floor head. Very neat.
To play with the idea that these new vacuums are good for pet owners, Shark has improved the Anti Hair Wrap Floor Head. It looks the same, but it should give even better hair pick-up thanks to an improved grip. We could see hair, dust or grains on the floor after a quick vacuum around the event booth, and we couldn’t see any debris around the floor either. The real test would be when we come and see it in our own home.
Watching the Shark Stratos wireless isn’t much like the Shark Anti Hair Wrap Flexology IZ201UK (opens in new tab). The floor head is compact, the stick can be folded (Flexology) and there are two power settings.
A striking difference, however, is that the Anti Odor Technology is present on the floor head. It doesn’t look bad at all and is carefully designed. Unfortunately we didn’t take a picture of this and the vacuum cleaner we quickly tried out is a European version without this feature, but don’t worry, it doesn’t detract from the overall look.
The Flexology feature allows you to fold the vacuum cleaner for easy storage, making it ideal for homes where space is at a premium. It is a pity that the vacuum cleaner cannot stand on its own in other circumstances, but other storage does.
We were very impressed with the Shark Stratos at the IFA event. It has all the good features we know and love, and then some.
We especially want to give the CleanSense IQ feature a little more bang for the buck. We like that the suction power is displayed on the floor head in such an obvious way, which in turn affects how many floor headlamps are lit while they are on.
The Anti Odor Technology and Anti Hair Wrap Plus are features that we would also like to know more about. There is only one way to go about this and that is by doing a full assessment.
IFA 2022 (opens in new tab) is Europe’s biggest tech show, and Slice Mag is in Berlin to bring you all the latest news and announcements, plus our hands-on first impressions of the new TVs, wearables, audio devices and other gadgets on display.
