Installing a PS5 SSD is much easier than it looks – here’s how

The PS5 may be a premium console loaded with fantastic exclusives so early in its life. But games like Returnal, Horizon Forbidden West and Gran Turismo 7, while great, can fill up your PS5’s storage space very quickly due to the immensely large file sizes.

Fortunately, a firmware update made available just under a year after the PS5’s launch allowed owners of Sony’s flagship hardware to install their own internal SSDs to significantly expand the available storage space on the console. The downside is that it also meant removing the faceplates from your PS5 and getting more intimate with the guts of the system.
