Knowing how to record on an iPhone is an absolute necessity. Whether you’re a journalist needing to document resources for a talk or just want to capture an important event, we’ve got an easy, step-by-step guide to saving audio to your iOS device.
Voice Memos is the app you want to use for this process. Do not worry. You don’t need to download it from the Apple App Store. It should already be installed on your iPhone by default.
How to record on iPhone
1. Find the voice memo app on your home screen. If you can’t find it, see if it’s in another folder (for example, on my iPhone, the voice memo app is in the Utilities folder).
2. Tap Voice Memos. If it’s your first time using the app, you’ll receive a “Welcome to Voice Memos” greeting. Tap on “Get on†
3. When you’re ready to record, tap the solid red circle. This will start recording the audio in your area.
4. When you’re done, press the stop button (the red square). Your iPhone will automatically save your recording and save it under ‘All recordings’.
If you have multiple Apple devices and want to sync your recordings, make sure iCloud backup is turned on by going to Settings > . to go [Your Name] > iCloud > iCloud Backup.
