Samsung’s TV series for 2022 arrives in Australia, including a beautiful matte screen

It’s that time of year again when the major TV makers begin to unveil their new Australian lineups. Kicking off is Samsung, which today opened the curtain on its 2022 TV range, including bigger, better Neo QLED TVs and the best version of The Frame TV yet.

Samsung’s new Neo Quantum processor brings a number of improvements over last year’s models, including improved 14-bit HDR processing, effectively quadrupling the grayscale levels of its 2021 models, along with improved object tracking sound (OTS). which now offers native Dolby Atmos support.

In addition, Samsung’s latest Neo QLEDs feature new Shape Adaptive Light technology that uses AI to analyze lines, shapes and surfaces for more accurate backlighting, which should result in even less light flowing around objects on the screen.

In addition to the standard Filmmaker Mode picture setting that comes in all of its high-end TVs, Samsung’s Neo QLEDs will also benefit from a new Smart Calibration tool in the SmartThings app. Users can point their smartphone’s camera straight at the screen while the TV displays a series of colors in succession, giving you a new picture preset that is tailored to the environment of the TV.
