AnywhereWorks, an American software company, is the creator of Setmore (opens in new tab). It was founded by Michael Payne, a serial entrepreneur, who serves as the CEO of the company. The company is headquartered in Portland, Oregon, and has more than 400 employees worldwide.
Setmore is one of AnywhereWorks’ most popular products. It was released in 2011 and has since gathered a large number of users. Other popular AnywhereWorks products include Teleport, a video calling app; ChatSupport, a customer support solution for businesses; and YoCoBoard, an employee timesheet (opens in new tab) software.
We decided to test Setmore’s ins and outs to give an accurate assessment and help you decide if it’s a suitable appointment scheduling app to use.
Setmore: subscriptions and prices
One good thing about Setmore is that there is a version that you can use without paying a dime. You can use this free version to schedule unlimited appointments, which is great. However, it lacks some notable features such as SMS reminders, recurring appointments, and custom notifications.
You must have a paid package to take full advantage of the app, and there are two such packages; Premium and Pro. The first costs $12 per user per month for up to two users. The latter costs $9 per user per month for a minimum of three users.
There are significant discounts if you pay annually rather than monthly; 58% for the Premium plan and 25% for the Pro plan. You can request a refund up to 30 days after your purchase if you are not happy with either plan.
Signing up for Setmore is easy. You can sign up with your email address and phone number or your existing google or facebook bills.
After you sign up, Setmore asks for essential information to help you set up an appointment scheduling dashboard. They include company name and type, working hours, number of employees, etc. Once you provide this information, Setmore . will assigns a unique subdomain for your company with the name you provided.
The subdomain resembles a website (opens in new tab) for your business that customers can visit and book appointments. You can control what is available on the website and what it will look like from your back end.
At the back, you can make specific appointments for customers to book. For example, as a licensed physician running your own medical practice, you can: create appointment windows that patients can book when they visit your subdomain. Likewise, suppose you already have the target customer in mind. In that case you can enter their contact details and Setmore will send email or text reminders to help them remember their upcoming appointment.
A big advantage of Setmore is that you can add prices to appointments and collect online payments. For example, as a doctor, you may charge $30 for a 30-minute consultation. You can make it easy for your intended patient to pay using online payment gateways such as: Stripe, paypaland Square. But the free plan only supports Square. You have to pay for the Premium or Pro plan to use other gateways.
If you want to use your personal domain instead of the Setmore subdomain, that’s all good. The app lets you add a booking page (via a widget) to your website and let customers book from there. Likewise, you can link Setmore directly to your facebook or Instagram business accounts and let clients book meetings directly from your company social pages.
Setmore: Interface and Usage
You can access Setmore through the web-based interface or native apps for desktop (Windows and macOS) and mobile (iOS and Android). The platform has a clean interface that makes it user-friendly.
However, in researching for this review, we observed a pattern of customer complaints that Setmore occasionally has issues that affect its functionality.
Set more: Support
You can access direct customer support from Setmore via email, live chat and telephone. We tried the live chat option and got a response within a minute, which is impressive considering we had the free plan.
Likewise, there is an official support page with detailed articles to help users navigate the platform.
Setmore: The Competition
Setmore’s main rivals are Zoho Bookings, Appointlet and Picktime. We think Setmore is better than these rivals thanks to its extensive feature set and relative ease of use.
Setmore: Final Verdict
We consider Setmore to be an excellent tool for scheduling appointments. It makes it easy for companies to make and stick to agreements with their customers. The best features include the payment gateway integration and the widget that allows you to add a booking page on a personal website. However, the app is significantly more expensive than many competitors.
